Recap of the second MMT Candidate Assessment
On 12 and 13 June 2017 the second two-day candidate assessment for the winter semester 2017/2018 intake of the Master's program “M.Sc. in Media, Management and Digital Technologies (MMT)” took place. The candidate assessment was held at LMU Munich and attracted candidates from all over Germany, Europe, and overseas.
The first day started with a written examination in the afternoon for assessing the candidates' knowledge in the fields of business administration and informatics. Upon a break, an informal information event in cooperation with the Internet Business Cluster (IBC) took place. The first part of the information event comprised a short presentation of the MMT program including an introduction of the MMT team by Prof. Dr. Johann Kranz, MMT program head and Professor for Internet Business and Internet Services. In the second part, and to provide a first insight into possible career opportunities as a MMT graduate, Dr. Marc Al-Hames, CEO of the Munich-based start-up CLIQZ (part of the Burda Group), introduced his company and discussed the practical relevance of the MMT Master’s from an employer’s perspective. CLIQZ offers a (mobile) browser with an integrated search engine and aims to deliver fast access to relevant Internet content while protecting the users’ privacy. Mr. Al-Hames particularly highlighted the need for experts, who are able to combine knowledge in management, media and digital technologies. Following the official part of the event, a get-together took place and candidates had the opportunity to get in touch with professors, university staff, and current MMT students. On the second day, oral examinations were held in the form of group interviews conducted by professors and post-docs with a background in business administration and informatics. During these interviews, the candidates' personal and professional aptitude for the MMT Master's was examined.
We want to thank Mr. Al-Hames from CLIQZ for his contribution to the MMT candidate assessment and also especially want to thank the IBC as a key partner and sponsor of the information event. Finally, we want to thank the candidates for their participation in the MMT candidate assessment. We are looking forward to welcoming the second class of highly motivated MMT students in October 2017 in Munich.
